About Me

I am completing my memoir, Better Late: The Adventures of a Midlife First-Time Wife. My essays, news, and opinion pieces have appeared in publications including The Washington Post, The LA Times, AARP's The Girlfriend, AARP's The Ethel, The Boston Globe, Lunch Ticket, Gathering-A Women Who Submit Anthology, Hippocampus, Orange Coast Magazine, LA Weekly, and Los Angeles Magazine. I was a nonfiction editor of the book, Transformation: A Women Who Submit Anthology. In addition, I teach writing classes for people of all levels of experience.

In 2023 I received generous financial support for my work as a writer and teacher from the Maryland State Arts Council,  and in 2023 and 2024 from The Montgomery County Government, and the Arts & Humanities Council of Montgomery County.

My journalism career started with the Burbank Leader, (an LA Times Community Newspaper), where I covered entertainment, airport, and city news. Other past gigs include communication professor, farmers market coordinator, census taker, dance company manager, and antique dealer. I starred in the production of my solo play, Finding the Perfect Place to Live in 111 Gyrations, at Plan B Performing Arts, Santa Fe, N.M.

I earned a BA in Cultural Studies (writing, dance, film) from SUNY Purchase College and an MA in Writing/Theater/Communication from George Mason University. After 25 years of practicing yoga, I completed my certification to teach in 2020.

Finally, I am an unapologetic feline aficionado, and I consider myself a dual citizen of Los Angeles and Rockville, Maryland.
